Critical care specialist, Alex Winthrop M.D. starts a typical day making rounds in the ICU at Rhode Island General, when he is called to help a patient in cardiac arrest. Alex is puzzled by the dying man’s test results. Soon, a pattern emerges that spurs him on to dig deeper despite resistance from the hospital’s CEO, Ted Beaumont. Beaumont’s only concern is avoiding bad press, but that should be the least of his worries.
In the midst of his investigation, personal tragedy strikes, catapulting Alex into a lonely downward spiral where addiction and an unlikely lover fill the void. He is jolted back into focus by a second overwhelming loss. With no job to return to, he devotes himself to finding an explanation for the mounting patient deaths.
Olivia Nillson Ph.D., a renowned biochemist and cellular toxicologist---knows too much. A phone call from Dr. Winthrop entices her to come forward. She joins him on a corrupted path that leads to an international plot involving a cunning biological weapon. Can they expose the conspiracy in time to save more innocent lives? Will anyone listen?

What if we discovered the spark that created life only to learn it was forbidden fruit?

Six months ago, Alex Winthrop MD and research scientist Olivia Nilsson Ph.D. were entangled in an international plot that almost got them killed. CIA operatives spared their lives— for a price. In exchange for freedom and silence, they must conduct research sanctioned by the DOD. When Alex is assigned to a covert military nanorobotics lab, he wants out. But Olivia is immersed in her work, and her desire to flee has faded. She convinces him to stay.

Their research takes a turn when a co-worker reveals a dusty powder, rumored to accelerate healing. The legend began in Tiptonville, a rural town by the Mississippi River, in 1907. The events surrounding the discovery were buried, hidden away for over a century. Alex and Olivia secretly set out to determine if the claims are true.

Disaster strikes when a bioengineered virus tears across the globe. They find themselves in the crosshairs, torn between morality and medical duty. Should they reveal their startling, unsanctioned research? The dust may be their only salvation—or their damnation. Will mankind survive being saved?
